Beading wire hardness
A wire hardness describe the temper of wire or softness. Sterling silver is available in two main categories; they are half-dead-hard and soft. Dead-soft is used when you want to bend the wire with your fingers. Half-hard holds its shape better is a slightly stiffer wire. Hammering a piece of beading wire and it will even make it a bit more ridgid, although will find that most wires will harden a bit as they are manipulated ..

Most types of beading wire is available in different shape, these include square, triangle, bent, half-round and round .. The shape you choose will depend on the work piece and the style you want.
Wire gauge size?
The diameter or tickness wire is measured in the measure. Between 12 and 28 are the most common size used for wire and bead jewelry making. The lower the number of measures are the greater the thickness of the wire is.
28 Gauge Wire
Wires like this or even thinner wires are generally used for applications such as Twining and crochet which is good. If you have beads, gemstones or pearls with very small holes they could be your options only for the wire.
Measure 24-26
The size of the wire is sometimes called ultra fine wire .. It is sometimes used for beaded flowers, wire crochet and wire wrapping. But it is also often used in small garden and small pearls.
Measure 20-22
This wire is all purpose and can be used to most decision jewelry. Measure is available in dead-soft or half-hard.
16-18 gauge Wire
Wire is medium thickness and fairly hard. Wire is often used to make clasps, large jump ring and necklace mail.
