tip on how to deal with acting?
i wat to be actress and want to start now!! but the only thing is that i live in Hawaii but i dont want to move to Holly wood to be a actress. help me what should I DO!!!!
I successfully ran a theatre company for four years and let me give you a bit of advice. First there is training. There has to be some local theatre schools with a good reputation. Please, before investing a single cent, look into the reputation. As I am Canadian, I am not sure if Hawaii's local college has a theatre program or not, but that might be a good place to start. As well, there are a number of television and movie programs usually filmed in Hawaii. I know that getting in touch with someone on the set is usually impossible, but you can try. Believe it or not, advice is free and professionals are always willing to hand it out to someone who's eager and willing to listen. Also, scan your local papers. Every newspaper you can get your hands on. Free or otherwise. Search for new shows filming or staging in your area (Hawaii is pretty small, so I don't know if travel is a problem or not). Some pretty big companies will advertise for extras in a local newspaper byline (that's the story on the shoot) or in the classifieds. You can also go online and e-mail some professionals and ask for advice. Also, don't be afraid of hitting the local theatre companies. Ask what they want for auditions. Let me tell you, you'll make or break yourself at an audition. You may be perfect for a part, but an inappropriate piece will see you to the door. Keep trying and don't take no for an answer. If you think you can do it, you can.
