I'm thinking about buying a Western show saddle...?
And was wondering if this:

in a lighter color would be okay for showing in paint shows? Any suggestions for good(ish) looking, CHEAP show saddles would also be appreciated (: Up until this point, I've just used my trainer's saddle, but I figured I should prolly buy my own at some point.

He's all red except a white spot on his stomach-pretty much your typical paint/pinto, haha.

It isn't as high quality as some other brands (the leather is very thin) and if you look closely it doesn't have quite the same look (we also have a Circle Y: http://s629.photobucket.com/albums/uu17/LopeSlow/?action=view¤t=showclothesandtack001.jpg and you can tell the difference), but it doesn't scream "fake" or anything--I've used it at some decently sized shows. I also did some AQHA shows in this saddle: http://s629.photobucket.com/albums/uu17/LopeSlow/?action=view¤t=Zip-April19th20084.jpg. It's the same "style" and look as the nicer show saddles, but with minimal silver. It worked, and we did just fine in it. I think we paid around $650 for it.
Personally, I don't think the one you linked to looks bad--it would work. It doesn't look as cheap or "fake" as a lot of the cheaper saddles, though I think you could probably find a better looking one. In the picture, it looks like it has very small skirts--you might want to check that. Show saddles usually have pretty long skirts, which adds to the look. Circle Y is an excellent brand, but neither of the Circle Y saddles she linked to are what I would call show saddles--even though there might be a hint of silver there (and not much of that), the style (and color) is different from a traditional show saddle. If you get that saddle, I would definitely opt for the lighter color.
If you're still looking, consider buying used if you want the really nice saddles and don't have the money. Look for good deals, too. The Circle Y saddle we just bought was initially a $2300 saddle (or somewhere around there) and we got it for $1300--it was new, but had been in the shop for awhile and had a tiny ding in the silver in one part. It isn't noticeable unless you look specifically for that (and you have to be right by the saddle)--so for a $1000 discount, we could live with that. Sure, that's still a lot of money, but the saddle will last a lot longer (and still look a lot nicer) than the cheaper saddles.
