How do I sew velcro onto the back of a Persian rug?
It is like a Persian rug (much cheaper - a rustic rug for our the lodge-style home is perfect as a wallhanging, but we want to hang a tapestry rug using velcro against a velcro-stapled board (such as they do in the museum). The problem is so weaving is almost impenetrable to me breaking the needle, fraying thread, creating callouses, dying a slow 
death will take me next time. There must be a better way of doing it by hand. Or, I just using the wrong equipment? User I bend tapestry needles, thimbles, upholstery thread (the thread often frays or comes out of her mess!), plays (for extreme pushing the needle through a lid-like Carpet Backing. Please help! I just need to sew two inch strip about 6 ft long, but I spent half a day sewing about 3 inches!
Instead of sewing on the Velcro, use a stapler, with the flat part of the staple behind the rug. The bent prongs are hidden to sleep alone on the front side. If you are in stitches, use a very thick needle upholstry, or one for counted cross stitch. The needle is very heavy and wide eyes. Use a small piece of plastic in Rubbery grip needle because it goes through the Velcro and carpeting. Use Quilting thread or other stop - sense, doubled and run through a piece of candle or beeswax.
