Is it possible to change a port on a mother board?
I have a Toshiba Satellite M105 S3074 laptop. Something shorted and the reason my LCD cable to melt. After replacing the LCD cable, the back light comes on but there are only large vertical white and gray lines show the display -- no photo. So, I look at port attached to the mother board and I noticed that it was scorched inside. Because it is so tiny, I can not say for sure but I think one of copper or brass prongs are missing. I have no money for a new computer or mother board. Possible to remove and replace or even repair the damaged port. If so, how the I'll do it or how I know how to do it. Also, what is called a port. I cannot find the name of the damaged pieces.
I would recommend going a computer repair shop to see if they no longer something. Laptop should be difficult to repair and then a desktop. It is possible there may be additional damage then the LCD cable.
