Authentic Material or Leather Saddle?
Hi, I'm looking to buy a saddle but I can't decide what type of saddle. Authentic material or leather? Which one is better? I know leather saddles last longer but apart from that, what is really better? Not counting how long it will last.Because I'd rather buy the better saddle, that lasts shorter, than the less good saddle, that lasts longer.
I'd go with leather. The main reason is yes, that it'll last longer, but it will also be harder to damage. On authentic saddles, I know that when it rains/snows when you're riding outside, it stains the saddle. For leather, snow and rain will still stain it but you can get the stain out with a good oil conditioner/cleaner. The rest is kind of a personal preference, too. I personally think that leather western saddles look better, but you may think that authentic saddles look better. What do want to do? Are you a hardcore trail rider? Than I'd say get a leather saddle if you don't want to have stain spots from the weather. If you don't really care, than go with the authentic. If you're looking for a saddle to compete with, then I'd vote go with leather just because, again I think it looks better. I'm not too sure about english saddles, but I know that western saddles look better when they're leather, in my opinion. Hope this helps!
