Band aid my son is left in too long. Skin is red, what should I do?
My son got his flu shot last shot last Friday. We took the bandaid off that night but he was not happy about it so we put some waterproof "tattoo" type bandaid on. He is no way anyone take it all week. So today I held him down and took it off. The skin where the gauze pad is (a perfect rectangle) was reddened, raised and painful to the touch. I wash it with soap and water and put antibiotic ointment on it and left open to air. Is there anything I should do? Why I said this and it has anything should I watch for? Did it cause permanent damage?
ok, you get the bad mother award years. I thought it was just me, lol. It is a reaction to sticking to the bandage. Instead of antibiotic cream, I want to use hydrocortisone cream.
