why do people stare at you because your punk/goth it gets so disturbin some people are just so rude these days?
im a goth/punk i get stared at all the time anyone any ideas how to defend myself ?
That happens to me a lot. At first it was just at school by other students (oddly enough the teachers don't seem to mind my fashion choices.)
I've gone on to develop my style a lot more since then and now when I'm in public I get constant stairs. (I was in a movie theater once bringing things in for my cousins' party and a four year old at the concession stand shouted,"Look! She has purple in her hair!")
It's been going on for nearly a year now. It gets on my nerves incredibly but I've learned to ignore it for the most part. You just have to not care what others think. I'll be one of the first to tell you that that can take sometime to push past the barrier into not caring what they think but if you keep telling yourself you don't care eventually you won't care what they think.
Remember you did this for you and not for them. And obviously if you cared what they thought you would have given up your punk style. But you haven't yet so that say something right there.
If everyone else can dress they way they want and look the way they want why can't we? As long as it doesn't harm anyone else or ourselves I see no wrong in wanted to be punk/goth/scene/emo/etc.
Just tell yourself you won't care and eventually you won't. You did this because it was the way you wanted to dress/the lifestyle you love. If they can look the way they want your every bit entitled to that too.
