Must find herbariums, pressed and dried plants.?
I like a collection of dry, dumb, and maintain plants to show my classes. Does anyone know where I can order them? Im not too any so my attempt is not to set a good example. Im not looking for classic or antique, only regular herbariums. Not cultivated plants, but instead of mustard, mint, the type of things that the students are familiar with for the most part? Thanks
John G is right - Most reasonable sized university will have a garden, but the debt of the specimens are always from one plant to another - not from a plant to the general public or even professional botanists. If you want your class to see specimens (which will think is wonderful) then I suggest you contact the nearest plant and plan a class trip. Here is a list of herbaria in a online presence http://www.ibiblio.org/botnet/flora/herbstart.html If you find one off the list then contact the biology department at the nearest university or college and ask them if they have a plant - often the smaller schools will have herbaria serve more as a collection of teaching.
