Best way to remove a scratch on clearcoat paint?
If you use polishing compound, it'll cloud the finish. Pol. comp. was good before clearcoat, it could fix most anything. It's tougher now, touch-up paint wouldn't look good for minor scratches.

If you don`t like all the ways that you listed, then the Best Way, is sand it down and paint that panel, that is about all that is left. You did not say if just the clear was scratched, or paint too, is it down to the metal? A minor scratch is different from person to person. To me a minor scratch on a clear coat paint will come off with normal car wax, then it is Gone.
