Porto Taverna, light blue delight in the heart of Gallura - Sardinia
Porto Taverna is the main white sandy beach in this stretch of coast called "Costa Corallina" for the unbeliavable clearness of the sea and the softness of the white sand. In the basin of the salty water which is behind this wonderful beache you can catch sight of a variety of birds, including the Heron , the Snipe and the Flamingo, which you commonly can find in Sardinia thanks to the mild climate becoming much more warmer in the last 20 years.
The sea bed, with clear white sand, gives to the wateran exceptional clearness. She same you can find in Cala Gilgolu. If you go there, please note there are nice B&B Olbia near to this place, from where you can visit also Gallura countryside, which can be really interesting, with the flavours and the perfumes of their mediterranean plants. One of them is in Loiri, close to the 131 dcn exit Trudda, there you will find the signs to L'Aglientu agriturismo B&B.
You will find there a special welcome in a homely atmosphere, a truly rural stay in Sardinia. The owners grow vegetables in their big garden and invite you to discover all the secrets of this wonderful Isand in the heart of the Mediterraneum. From this place you also can visit Castello di Pedres and Tomba dei Giganti Su Monte e s'Abe, which is a nuragic site nestled just a few kilometres from l'Aglientu. There is a nice walk with steps to reach the old castle, from where you will have a view on the whole Olbia Gulf.
