Does anyone know if the fancy leather bound TIME/LIFE book series "THE OLD WEST" is still in print?
In the late Seventies, and I think into the Eighties, Time/Life Books publised a multi-volume set of really nice, but very expensive books called "THE OLD WEST". The books were bound in a heavy tooled leather look covers, and felt very substantial, as I saw one once at a bookstore as a kid.
These book sets were advertised heavily on TV for awhile, and as a kid I used to think that they were very nice looking volumes. However, I recall that the entire set would set you back at least 500 US dollars!
Does anyone else remember this book set, and does anyone else own it? I would think that they are not rare, but not common either at that price. Also, if you have seen it or own it, do you like it and think it was worth the money?
I'm sure it's out of print. However I just did a quick search on eBay, and individual books are selling for $3-$5 each. and there are sets, some with 20, some 25 volumes currently running between $30-$50.
I've read a couple of the volumes, it's been a few years but I recall them being pretty good.
