I would not say strange, but one tradition which is foreign to my nature is the tactileness.
I am only tactile with my immediate family, but when I go to my husband's homeland the number of women who I have to kiss either on the cheek or on the top of the head (for elderly relatives - men and women) is beyond belief. I do it because I respect their culture.
Also the repetitive greetings.......... 
I make a joke of it with his family now because they know me.
I personally prefer 'Hello, how are you? - their response. Their greeting and my response'... but this never happens.
I would also say that as a guest I am not allowed to do anything - which can be a tad boring. I have however worn them down and they let me help now.
