Security of data within the computer has become a critical concern for organizations over time. The need is growing that needs to share resources through networking and the internet increases. Microsoft has introduced BitLocker To Go to Windows 7 as a step to increase security. BitLocker To Go extends the usability of BitLocker drive encryption on USB storage devices like pen drives and other flash drive.
BitLocker Drive Encryption is introduced Windows Vista Enterprise and Ultimate for client computers. But it is limited to encrypting only the internal drives of a PC where the support of BitLocker To Go, although the external device can be encrypted. When a BitLocker-protected removable drive is unlocked tried to find a computer running Windows 7, the user prompted for the password. Drive is not accessible in the absence of password.
Data security to lost or stolen devices such as Notepad PC, laptop, pen drive or hard disk has become a major concern for corporate executives who travel frequently. Apart from the loss of hardware, there is a greater fear of displaying data stolen hardware. Many corporations are asking for this feature for a long time as the lost data can result in large losses in business if it gets the wrong hands. First there is no way to protect it. Now, BitLocker To Go it is possible. It even allows users to more safely share the data that users not deployed Windows 7.
It is much easier to configure BitLocker in Windows Vista compared to the 7 which is a complex process to set up both. This involves shrinking partitions of the system to create enough space for BitLocker partition. Applications in the new version is included in such a way that it makes encryption too simple and straight forward. You can see the BitLocker under Security System and the Control Panel of your system. All you have to do is open the BitLocker, and the Drive Preparation Tool will do the rest for you.
BitLocker and Windows BitLocker to Go is designed for both business and home users need to protect their sensitive data on computers and removable drives.
