Does anyone know how to retrieve a folder that was accidentally "cut" not "deleted"? It must still be in my PC?
This folder was a collection of Bookmarks. I don't want to lose them forever. Can anyone help?
Under 'normal' circumstances 'cut' does not remove until 'paste' is applied so your folder should have been left where it belonged. If it has disappeared then you more than likely performed a 'move' (and haven't most of us had accidents like that at one time or another). In which case it will be hiding inside another folder that was on display at the time.
If the window you were in at the time of the loss is still open and you haven't done anything else in there then go to edit and undo move.
Otherwise, if you know the name of the folder you have lost then run a search. Either start menu/search/files or folders or, from the explorer window you were in at the time you lost the folder click on the search icon, select files or folders and type the name you are looking for into the search box.
If you don't know the name of your folder then try looking for one of the bookmarks it contained. You don't need to remember the full title as long as you know part of the name. Once you find it you will see the new path to the folder. Alternatively right click on the file and select 'open containing folder'. Once in there, go up one level, cut and paste it back to its original home.
Failing that you will just have to do it long hand and go through every folder on your pc. You did check the Recycle Bin before you started to panic didn't you?
