Model is an important step in the process of manufacturing. It is this process that we encounter a computer numerical control or CNC prototyping. In CNC prototyping, a computer controller usually translates the data and produces a design 3D output data through a mechanical device.
The whole process revolutionized the manufacturing process for the former, models are difficult to make because immediately a lot of time, effort and expense do. Now in CNC prototyping, complex 3D virtual design by engineers of the design is easily translated into actual of 3D models with straight and curved lines easily replicated automatically. The CNC machine prototyping, making models are fast, easy and cost effective.
Now CNC prototyping process is available for most of the problems in prototyping, manufacturing process is extremely sped up. The saving of time and effort to allow more productive by allowing design engineers to work more with less time needed. This means a larger and faster render in a shorter amount of time. This of course then directly translates to bottom line and profits for business.
Sometimes, a need for more than one CNC prototyping machine to produce different parts of a prototype. In this case, a series of CNC prototyping machines are grouped together in most cases, the This CNC prototyping machines are controlled by computer aided manufacturing or CAM software package.
This is the CAM software package to aid the design engineer deciding what kinds of tools, processes and manufacturing path to use. After this, the process becomes almost completely automated.
By the continuous technological advancements in this area of CNC prototyping, will not be long before the whole process is made even easier and more convenient. Thank help of machines run by computers, there is not much need for too many people in the prototyping process interference. This in, speed up the actual manufacturing process. Which in turn, makes things easier for everyone.
There are always other things to change. This is the reason that government and those in the private sector always strive to achieve new heights in the development of better machines and equipment. A great example is the military. Each branch of service uses of weapons and equipment to get a job done. The government has not only set a budget to arm and feed the army but a large part goes to research and development.
Military can have a department to conduct the tests but the majority of work is outside contractors over the prototyping services. For example, if the United States Air Force wants a new airplane, various people are asked to bid on the project. In fact, Boeing and Lockheed Martin each made a version and the top brass and then decide which one will go to production.
The project took almost 10 years after. The military also wanted it to be used not only for the Air Force, but also for the Navy and Marines to replace the aging Fighters in service for over a decade.
The key factors to consider two contractors is the ability of aircraft to avoid radar like the F-117 stealth fighter and how well can be done in combat. It can only be achieved by providing it with sophisticated sensors and radar systems to attack before the enemy can get a shot.
It also includes how much will it cost to make an aircraft for the winning contractor will have to produce a large inventory for use by the armed forces. In 2001, more than 7 years after the project started, Lockheed Martin was awarded the contract to build a new fighter of the 21st century. The military hopes to get the plane to different units in the next 10 to 15 years in order to combat the threat of the future.
The United States is not the only country that uses prototyping services to beef up its defenses in the country. Despite the Atlantic, European countries have done the same thing in the development the Harrier, which is the only successful Vertical Take Off and Landing aircraft today.
Scientists from different countries worked the project for years before being able to build a plane that offers close air support to ground troops. The latest of these is the Typhoon, which is a fast and sleeker aircraft carrier.
